My lecture will cover Informatics and how can informatics affect the educational process of students. This item will be also a subject of my dissertation.

Computers have become very important part of our lives. If we go to the post office, library or to any other places, we see them everywhere. And that’s why, it is very important for everybody/us to be able to work with computers.

The Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports and the Ministry of Culture proposed in 1999 the conception called ”The Conception of the state informatics policy in the education”. The aim of the conception is to reach the population computer literacy to average level.

The way, how to reach the aim, is that all schools will be equipped with computer classrooms. In each classroom will be a certain number of computers, which will be connected to the network and Internet. On all computers should be also installed software, which will be available for free. These specific programs make the software packet. This packet covers all educational programs, which can be used by teachers in many subjects.

Students working with educational programs are intensifying their knowledge and their work with computers. Using of educational programs has many advantages. Today many firms already produce some educational programs, e.g. Grada, Terasoft, Pachner and others. Many programs have very interesting background with pictures, animation and sounds. Also some programs contain competitions, fairy-tales, crosswords etc.

Education, where we can use these programs, could be more interesting for students and also should help them with studying at home. That’s why I’ve decided to make this research in the school, where I worked with children from the age of 11 to 16. I was interested in below mentioned points:

• If the teachers are using the educational programs in their lessons
• How often are these programs used in lessons like Mathematics and Czech language
• If these programs are interesting for the students
• And how the programs should look according to the students imagination

At the end I would like to mention the rising educational programs and the firms, which provide them. Also I would like to mention the educational programs for typing with all fingers (typewriting).
